Wendouree Bird Life
Commissioned series, 2017

A metaphoric story that overlays birds and humans with a similar struggle of survival around Lake Wendouree in Ballarat.
On the first layer, the visual impact of colour and form with arching curves and delicate detail, but gaze at the image a bit longer, then a tension within each narrative begins to expose itself… a Coot hen leaves her chicks vulnerable whilst she feeds…large swans find a lost chic, guide it to the safe nest of different bird species… a humble sparrow flies away from symbols of a chaotic childhood.

Beneath each bright image is the tension of survival, with it the repeating cycles of life.
